[The journal opens up when Kanji's foot tips it over. The camera shows the tree tops, leaves dark and green with tiny splotches of a blue sky showing through. The voice of an irate male is heard shouting at the top of his lungs at no one in particular.]

Can't believe I'm back here with these dumb ass wings. The fuck is wrong with these stupid bastards that they can't leave me back home where things are finally calm?! It's Golden Week!

And why the hell are these wings so...pink? Do I look like a dude who wears pink?

[And suddenly, Kanji's very angry face is in front of the camera. It's obvious that he's in the New Feather pants and no shirt. He really doesn't look like a guy who should even know what the color pink is, let alone wear it.

His grey eyes go wide before a slight blush shows on his cheeks.]

Fuck!

[And then the journal is slammed shut.]

[Later, when he's dressed in his normal clothes, Kanji can be found looking for a place to stay, since he already knows how Luceti works. After finding an apartment, he's going grocery shopping and stopping off to get some supplies to occupy his time.

He'll also stop off at Seventh Heaven for dinner and to see who's working there. He stops off at the school and Azalea to check in with his former teacher. He would like to see when the school is back in session.]

[See, he was considering being nice to this guy, but he doesn't appreciate the disrespect and so he lets his temper get away from him. Never mind that he was the one being kinda rude in the first place. He doesn't tend to think these sorts of things through too clearly until afterward.]

[At least he's gotten a little better at reining himself in, and he's let go of his old arrogance in favor of adopting humbleness. With apologies lain down in a sort of truce, he pushes past it to try and show that he isn't an ass all the time.]

Guess I got it alright back home. Mom's a drag, but she's not all bad.

[She did agree to buy that huge TV when he asked her to, after all.]

I hear you on that. Just the way moms are, I guess. [He misses bickering with his mom, as strange as that might sound. Even before he ended up here, it had been a while since he'd had the chance to see her, what with the way everything was going to hell. And he used to take it for granted.]

[At least, that's what he thinks. He kinda wishes he still had his dad too, but his mom's not completely horrible.]

[Nothing more to say on the subject of parents right then. Kanji's lucky. He knows it. Coulda ended up with parents like Rise's or Yu-senpai's. Not exactly shining examples of parental units, that's for damn sure.

And now that the guy's not being a jerk, Kanji can take some good-natured ribbing. He's not as seriously angry as he once was and as long as Jean doesn't start acting like Yosuke then things are good. All good.]

I'm askin' myself the same question here, man. It ain't like this place is all that big. But I was home for like...three hours. It was March when I left here, but it looks a lot later in the year than that now.

You were gone for six months and only three hours went by while you were home? Man... [He still can't quite wrap his head around how time functions here, how it's played with like it's nothing.]

[Now that they're done yelling, Kanji's been moving through the village with the journal open and talking. Not like he's the only one doing it either.]

[As if he would! He leaves that dumb stuff to Yosuke, the rubbish can lover man.]

Yeah, school here was better than back home. 'Course, Senpai had to make me go first time I was here, but I, uh, kinda liked it.

[Over here, he just assumes Senpai is somebody's name.]

Never really went to school back home. [That's just how it is in a society where at the ripe age of twelve you're considered enough of an adult to enlist with the military.] It ain't bad...I've definitely learned a lot that I never knew before.

Had to go to school back home, when I couldn't skip. Until stuff happened. So, I guess I'll see you there when it opens up.

[Idle curiosity has him wondering what "stuff" happened, but if the guy wanted to explain, he would have done so. Oh well. He could say that some "stuff" had happened for him too.]
