[The journal opens up when Kanji's foot tips it over. The camera shows the tree tops, leaves dark and green with tiny splotches of a blue sky showing through. The voice of an irate male is heard shouting at the top of his lungs at no one in particular.]

Can't believe I'm back here with these dumb ass wings. The fuck is wrong with these stupid bastards that they can't leave me back home where things are finally calm?! It's Golden Week!

And why the hell are these wings so...pink? Do I look like a dude who wears pink?

[And suddenly, Kanji's very angry face is in front of the camera. It's obvious that he's in the New Feather pants and no shirt. He really doesn't look like a guy who should even know what the color pink is, let alone wear it.

His grey eyes go wide before a slight blush shows on his cheeks.]

Fuck!

[And then the journal is slammed shut.]

[Later, when he's dressed in his normal clothes, Kanji can be found looking for a place to stay, since he already knows how Luceti works. After finding an apartment, he's going grocery shopping and stopping off to get some supplies to occupy his time.

He'll also stop off at Seventh Heaven for dinner and to see who's working there. He stops off at the school and Azalea to check in with his former teacher. He would like to see when the school is back in session.]

Going into business isn't too bad if you have the savvy for it. But you might want to branch out - plushies and a few other things, too, if you like handcrafts.

Well, last time I was here, I worked in the clothes shop, All Passions, I think is the name. It was kinda fun. Same thing I would've done at home. Did some requests for people.

I liked it.

No economy here though, so can't tell how I'd do back home tryin' to do it. But the plushies sell out faster than Ma can keep 'em on the shelves most times.

I think you can tell by how many people requested it here. You just have to knock it down a little to take into account the people who don't think they should have to pay for anything now that they've been living here.

On the other hand, it's the first time I've seen something similar to communism, almost work.

[He takes a minute to think about that, and he stands up, the journal shifting so that the trees behind him can be more fully seen from the camera's perspective.]

I kept busy, but still had time to do the things I wanted. Was thinking of teachin' other people how to sew and stuff. There was a fashion club run by a girl, Bulla I think, and she wanted me to come and teach 'em all how to sew and knit.

Communism? Is that where everything belongs to the government and it's all handed out to everyone?

My sister's involved with that fashion club.

[And you know, before some time in Luceti that would have been the opener to a whole lot of mockery?] It's not that bad, if it's what you're into, I guess. Not my thing, though.

Your sister's here too? I haven't met her yet. But, uh, she sounds okay.

But, I get that not everyone's into fashion and stuff that goes along with it. Like, I got a friend back home, she's really into kung-fu movies? Not my thing, but they make her happy.

[And Kanji will allow Chie her kung-fu movies so long as she doesn't kick him like she does Yosuke. Of course, he's not anywhere near as stupid as Yosuke, either so he gets a free pass on her legs of titanium meeting his delicate man bits.]

That depends on a given definition of OK. But if you're interested in the club, I'd get in touch with her. Quinn Morgendorffer. I think she'd like a guy joining up.

Yeah, I doubt I'll be joining the club, but I can offer help if they need it from time to time. Got other things I wanna do with myself than just stuff I could do back home.

[Well, he couldn't really join a fashion club back home without getting stupid looks and remarks, but he's got his Persona that he wants to work on. What's the point of having something as badass as that if it's just gonna sit there, unused?]

Sure. Everyone here pretty much does what they want, it seems like. So I don't think they'd have a problem with you showing up once or twice if that's all you wanted to do.

[As for her... well there was never really anything she wanted to join, aside from maybe working on the newspaper. Or that time she did work on the yearbook - a little bit.]

Yeah, well, how many of us got parents or adult figures here from our lives back home to tell us what to do?

So, what is it that you do with your time here? I don't remember seeing you at school the last time.

I study, but I don't see the point in subjecting myself to arbitrary standardized testing and that sort of thing. So I haven't done much at the school. I usually work on my writing. I used to get pizza when that Azzip place was still around.

You ever been to the school? The classes are optional, but there's things like "World Sharing". You get to hear about the things that make our worlds different and the same. It's kinda cool.

[It's his second favorite subject.]

There was a pizza place here? That sounds awesome. What happened to it?

I don't know. Whoever ran it left, or something.

World sharing sounds kind of cool, but I think it would be upsetting to realize just how different some of the places people come from here can be.

That's kinda lame. I think havin' a pizza place here would be nice. 'Course, I can't cook worth a damn, so I should shut up about it.

World Sharing's cool. Helios-sensei also teaches Magic class. Anyone can take it. He teaches you how to talk to the magic spirits that run around here.

I can find my way around the old kitchen. Also, I've had a little experience with these spirits. I wasn't really happy about it.

You ever thought about workin' on a weekly paper or something for the enclosure? You could interview people and stuff like that.

[No, she appreciates it, on some level. The deadpan lack of enthusiasm is just her default.]

Maybe. But would people really work for it and read it? I guess if it came on the journals, some of them would...

[He takes a moment before he says the next thing.]

I dunno where you stay. I was thinkin' of pickin' one of the apartments in the village like last time. Maybe not the same one though. Dunno if it's occupied or not.

I wouldn't know, but if you liked it, it's worth checking. I've stayed in this spot pretty much the whole time I've been here.
