So, what's there to do around here? I've run through all the tiny projects I brought along with me. There's no school, no real selection of goods at the stores anymore, and I'm going insane.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Sittin' and waitin' is something I don't do very well. It's pretty lame, honestly.

[Never. He was one of the few people who joined together to find a killer. Because cops are dumb. And sometimes corrupt.]

Pokémon again? [Ugh. Please let's not get into another fight over this.] They're called Pocket Pets where I'm from. It's different from what everyone else knows though. I dunno why it's different. What's your...Pikachu do?

Oh, hey, I use electrical attacks when I fight too. That's pretty cool. Does he fight for you?

Woaah, you can do that? That's so cool! Well.. kinda I guess? I can always rely on Pikachu in a Pokemon battle!

[ More so here than back home, definitely ]

[ voice ; *rolls eyes forever* ]

So, like these Pokémon, they fight against each other for people then? I didn't really pay attention to that stuff back home, honestly. Too busy doin' other stuff.

[Like beating up biker gangs and catching killers. Don't ask.]

er.. well. [ How to explain ] They're not really fighting? They battle each other to see who is stronger, but you should never tell your Pokemon to do something that could really hurt the other Pokemon.

[ Does that make sense at all?? Even he doesn't know. ]

[ voice ; only response is mostly perfect, yes ]

Wait, wait, wait. So, it's just all a test to see who's Pokémon is stronger, basically? That's what the fuck this is all about?

[Annoyed, yes he might sound that way. Just a little.]

'Course not! You were only askin' if they fought for us. They battle, but it's not a real fight. I would never put Pikachu in real danger.

People look at battles differently [ he'll admit that. there are come who do Pokemon battles to see who is the strongest by just having the "strongest" Pokemon avaliable ] but to me it's not to see just which Pokemon is stronger. It's how close the Pokemon and trainer are that matters. How much they understand one another. If you don't understand your Pokemon then you and your Pokemon can't be as strong as you could be.

[ He may just be babbling, but he's the last trainer who would say that battles are just a test to see whose Pokemon is stronger. ]

[It's either the stupidest thing Kanji's ever heard or the wisest. And considering some of the shit he's heard up until now, that would be a feat. For either end of the spectrum.]

...makes sense, I guess. Team unity and all that crap.

Uh-huh! I mean, it's kinda hard to explain, but to me the biggest thing that matters is that I'm friends with all my Pokemon. And as long as we did the best we could it's all right if we lose every now and then.

And, the most important thing of all, is that I have my partner Pikachu beside me! As long as we're together we'll be able to face anything!

[ Pikachu chimes in one more in agreement. ]

[Kanji can't see the creature but he really wishes he could. Can he...touch his fur? Seriously?]
